Rafael Romps To Citi Success

Brazil's Rafael F Alarcon delighted local fans at the Citi Open when he lifted the inaugural PSA Tour squash title in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The top seed from Sao Paulo reached the final without dropping a game - then despatched Argentina's No6 seed Roberto Pezzota 11-6, 11-6, 11-7.

Pezzota, 24, from Rosario, made his breakthrough in the quarter-finals when he upset Hong Kong's second seed Dick Lau - then went on the celebrate his maiden appearance in a PSA Tour final.

Alarcon's success marks the ninth PSA Tour title of his career - but the second in a row after winning the Rio Verde Open, also in Brazil, last month.
