Mansoor Maintains National Supremacy In Abbottabad

23 May 2007

Mansoor Zaman maintained his status as the top squash player in Pakistan when he beat his higher-seeded compatriot Aamir Atlas Khan in the final of the President PSF International in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

Last month, 16-year-old Aamir Atlas Khan was the highest-ranked player in the country - and thus was seeded above Zaman in the PSA Tour event at the Jansher Khan Complex

But 27-year-old Zaman overtook the teenager in this month's PSA World Rankings after beating Khan in April's Governor NWFP International final in his home town of Peshawar.

And the second seed repeated his triumph in Abbottabad, surviving a first game loss to overcome Khan 9-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-6 in 47 minutes, thereby winning his fifth career PSA Tour title - all of which have been claimed on home soil!

Final:
[2] Mansoor Zaman (PAK) bt [1] Aamir Atlas Khan (PAK) 9-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-6 (47m)
