Beng Hee Bounced By Teenager Ramy

Egypt's world junior champion Ramy Ashour scored a notable scalp on the senior circuit when he upset Malaysia's third seed Ong Beng Hee in the men's first round of the EBS Dayton Open in the US state of Ohio.

Ashour, the 18-year-old from Cairo who won the world U19 title when he was only 16, recovered from a game down to beat Beng Hee 10-11 11-9 11-3 7-11 11-5.

Australia's unseeded Dan Jenson also upset the seedings by beating England's sixth seed Jonathan Kemp 11-6 9-11 3-11 11-9 11-5

All four top seeds progressed through to the quarter-finals of the women's event, with English favourite Linda Elriani crushing compatriot Rebecca Botwright 9-2 9-0 9-0 to earn a semi-final clash with long-time English rival Fiona Geaves, the third seed.
