Lee Avenges Waller Defeat In U17 Final

3 Nov 2005

Surrey's Joe Lee claimed the Men's British Junior U17 Nationals crown on the all-glass court at the National Squash Centre in Manchester. In a repeat of the 2004 British Under 15 final, Joe avenged his defeat at the hands of Adrian Waller to beat the 15-year-old from Hertfordshire in 66 minutes to claim his first national title.

Waller put in a determined display but Joe proved too strong to record a 9-5 9-10 9-5 9-2 win and justify his No1 seeding and English No1 ranking.

Essex's Sophie Lemom claimed the first title of the afternoon after defeating Cheshire's Lucy Townley in the Women's Under 13 Final. Sophie always looked likely to succeed in this closely fought contest between the English No1 & No2.

Yorkshire's James Earles won a high quality Men's Under 13 final against Surrey's David Wardle in a game played in great spirit by both players. James showed why he is clearly the No1 Under 13 in the country with a polished 3-0 victory in 36 minutes.

Victoria Lust, from Bedfordshire, won the Women's Under 17 title to add to the Under 13 title she won in 2001. After struggling in the first game Cumbria's Victoria Bell got herself back into contention. However it was not to be her day and Lust went on to win 3 games to 1.
