Hungary's Farkas Balazs continued his spectacular run at the Canadian Men's Open Presented by AirSprint Private Aviation in Calgary where he took down Swiss No.7 seed Dimitri Steinmann to reach a first ever PSA World Tour semi-final.

The unseeded world No.53, who 24 hours earlier shocked No.4 seed Abdulla Al-Tamimi, was composed throughout the contest and thrilled the crowd at the Bow Valley Club with a number of exciting winners as he completed an impressive 11-6, 11-7, 11-9 win in 52 minutes.

"It's a really good feeling and I'm really happy I've been through this big battle," said the 26-year-old left-hander after his first meeting with Steinman in eight years.

Farkas will face top seed and world No.3 Diego Elias in the semi-final, after the Peruvian former world No.1 took down Canadian home favourite and No.8 seed David Baillargeon in brutal fashion, recording an 11-0, 11-6, 11-2 win in just 27 minutes.

In the other half of the draw, No.2 seed Mazen Hesham will face Egyptian compatriot and No.3 seed Youssef Soliman, after the pair recorded wins over Swiss duo Yannick Wilhelmi and Nicolas Mueller, respectively.

Hesham, the world No.7, made a torrid start to his quarter-final, going 7-0 down in game one before recovering his composure to take the match 11-9, 11-9, 11-9.

Soliman, meanwhile, played some excellent squash in a comprehensive 11-7, 11-2, 11-8 victory over No.5 seed Mueller.
