Comeback Kings Steinmann & ElSherbini Make El Gouna R2

Mohamed ElSherbini and Dimitri Steinmann both came from two games down in their opening matches of the El Gouna International to make the second round of the PSA World Tour Platinum event at the El Gouna Squash Complex in Egypt.

Egypt's Sherbini recovered from 2/0 against Mexico's former world No.17 Cesar Salazar, while Swiss star Steinman came back from 2/0 down against tournament wildcard Aly Hussein in a bruising 90-minute battle.

"It was a tough match today, especially mentally," Steinmann said. "Going 2/0 down is mentally very tough to come back in the third. I switched into another gear, and luckily I found it and I was able to come back and win in five,"

Englishman Adrian Waller, the world No.35, pulled off one of the biggest shocks of the opening day as he downed France's world No.18 Gregoire Marche 3/1.

In the women's draw, Egyptian Mariam Metwally came from 2/1 down to seal her place in the second round at the expense of Georgia Adderley.
