Simpson Scores Biggest Title At George's Hill

Chris Simpson claimed the biggest PSA World Tour title of his career when he recorded his first win over fellow Englishman Daryl Selby, the top seed, in the final of the CLIC Sargent St George's Hill Classic, the inaugural PSA M25 squash event at St George's Hill Lawn Tennis Club in Weybridge, England.

The Guernsey-born 28-year-old ended a six-match losing streak over Selby when he prevailed 11-8, 11-2, 9-11, 11-1 in 67 minutes over the world No.18 to win Tour title number nine.

After coming through a narrow quarter-final encounter with Dane Kristian Frost Olesen, Simpson breezed past Tom Richards 3/0 in the semis and maintained his impressive form to see off Selby, edging a close opening game before establishing a comfortable 2/0 lead with a dominant performance in the second game.

Selby mounted a comeback in the third but it took its toll on the talented Essex man and Simpson pounced in the fourth, restricting Selby to a solitary point and he surged to the victory and the title.

"This is definitely the best I played all week, I saved my best squash for the final," said Simpson, ranked 23 in the world.

"I really enjoyed the match, it was a very fair contest and I think it was a good reflection of squash as a sport. I beat Daryl a few weeks ago in an unofficial tournament and that gave me confidence that I could beat him and I'm delighted to do so today."
