Mansoor Stops Aamir To Reach CAS Final

26 Aug 2005

Mansoor Zaman, the Pakistan number two, ended the brave run of his young compatriot Aamir Atlas Khan when he beat the 15-year-old qualifier in today's semi-finals of the CAS International in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Fourth seed Zaman, the champion in 2001, will face Adrian Grant in the final after the second seed from England beat third seed Mohammed Abbas in the other semi-final.

Mansoor Zaman is looking for his first PSA title win for more than three years. The 25-year-old from Peshawar had to fight back from a game down to beat Khan, the teenage giant-killer who upset top seed Ong Beng Hee in the first round.

Left-hander Zaman took 31 minutes to beat the youngster, also from Peshawar, 9-11 11-8 11-8 11-5 to reach his 13th career PSA Tour final.

Grant, who is also appearing in his first PSA final this year, beat his Egyptian opponent in straight games - but it took the London-born 24-year-old 40 minutes to earn his 11-6 11-9 11-9 victory, and a place in his 14th Tour final.

Semi-finals:
