Weenink & Schweertman

Sebastiaan Weenink secured a marathon upset win over top-seeded compatriot Piedro Schweertman in the climax of the Winner's Investimax Brussels Open to claim not only his first PSA World Tour title, but also victory in the first ever Tour final between two Dutchmen.

Rotterdam-born Weenink, the second seed, made it to the final of the inaugural PSA Challenger 5 squash event at Winner's in the Belgian capital after beating Spain's No.4 seed Alejandro Garbi Caro in the semi-finals. The straight games win saw the 28-year-old World No.94 into his fourth Tour final.

Favourite Schweertman, ranked seven places higher than his fellow countryman, fought back from a game down in the other semi to overcome surprise opponent Joel Makin, the sixth seed from Wales, in five games.

The win took the 31-year-old left-hander into the 14th Tour final of his career - but his sixth this year!

Schweertman, who had beaten his opponent three times in recent Dutch national championships, twice led in the final.

But Weenink held his nerve to take the final two games of the match to claim his historic 5-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-5, 11-9 title triumph after 83 minutes.
