Nouran El Torky with men's champion Harinder Pal Sandhu

Fourth seed Nouran El Torky, who became the highest-ranked player in the Women's JSW WSA Indian Circuit No1 after the publication of the October WSA World Rankings, justified her new status in the WSA Tour 5 squash event when she claimed the trophy at the Jaipur Club in Jaipur.

The 21-year-old Egyptian world No64 reached the final - her third in a row on the WSA Tour - after upsetting top-seeded Austrian Birgit Coufal.

Her opponent in the final was No2 seed Cheyna Tucker, the world No77 from South Africa who was celebrating her second final appearance of the year - but looking for her maiden title.

El Torky took the opening two games. "The third game saw El Torky looking to make it a quick match, and she shot into the lead 5-1," reported Circuit Director Liesl Goecker. "Tucker managed to claw back a few points but her game lost focus as the pressure built.

"El Torky took the game 11-4 and, with a joyful scream, became the champion of the first JSW Challenger tournament in Jaipur."

The young Egyptian was delighted with her 11-3, 11-8, 11-4 triumph - marking her second WSA Tour trophy in two weeks: "I saw the trophy three days ago," explained El Torky. "I told one of my friends: 'I need this one!'

"I was very worried at the beginning, telling myself just focus, don't rush for front shots, just place basic first to get my game.

"I'd like to thank my mother and father and sisters, Heba and Raneem. And thanks to the tournament organisers and sponsors."
