Tour Title No.1 For Tayyab

18 Sep 2014

Pakistan teenager Tayyab Aslam earned his first title on the PSA World Tour when defeated local hero Ahmad Al-Saraj in the final of the Amman Squash Open, the PSA Challenger 5 event at Al Hassan International Squash Center in Amman, Jordan.

The recently-crowned Asian Junior Champion from Lahore was competing in his 22nd Tour event - and made it to his first Tour final after seeing off fifth-seeded English teenager Ashley Davies in four games.

Al-Saraj, the second seed born and raised in the Jordanian capital, celebrated his third Tour final appearance when he overcame Egyptian Shehab Essam Hosny in the other semi.

But the 19-year-old's dream of winning his first Tour title in front of a home crowd was not to be. Al-Saraj took the opening game - but 18-year-old Aslam fought back to win the next three to claim his breakthrough 6-11, 11-1, 14-12, 11-8 title triumph.

Final:
[1] Tayyab Aslam (PAK) bt [2] Ahmad Al-Saraj (JOR) 8-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-7
