3 Jun 2014

An all-Egyptian final brought the Grays Norwegian Open to a climax when Omar Abdel Aziz upset event favourite Omar Abdel Meguid to win the PSA World Tour Challenger 10 squash event being staged at the Myrens Sportssenter in the Norway capital Oslo for the first time in seven years.

It was the third Tour meeting between the Egyptian pair - but the first for almost three years, since when 26-year-old Meguid, the World No.30 from Giza, has overtaken his older compatriot in the rankings.

But 30-year-old Aziz, now ranked 14 places lower, had a 2/0 career head-to-head record to maintain - and did so in commanding style, winning 11-9, 8-11, 11-7, 11-8 in 45 minutes.

The triumph marks Aziz's sixth PSA World Tour title - but his first since October 2012.

Aziz told the packed crowd that he was very pleased with his performance - and thanked the audience and the tournament committee for making it a good finale and a good tournament.

Final:
[2] Omar Abdel Aziz (EGY) bt [1] Omar Abdel Meguid (EGY) 11-9, 8-11, 11-7, 11-8 (45m)
