Boswell Battles On In Mexico

18 Jun 2005

Australian Stewart Boswell continued his remarkable comeback after a two-year layoff with a mystery back ailment when he trounced seventh seed Shawn De Lierre in the first round of the Nutrigrain Kellogg's Queretaro Open in Queretaro City, Mexico.

Before arriving in Central America, the 26-year-old from Canberra had notched up 22 successive PSA Tour wins since April - while claiming four PSA Tour titles in a row in Australia and New Zealand in his bid to reclaim the career-high world No4 ranking he last held in April 2003.

Though now ranked 83 in the world, Boswell still had to qualify for the 1 star PSA event in Mexico - but did so in sensational style by beating local player Salvador Martinez 11-0 11-0 11-0, thus failing to drop service throughout the match!

Boswell's 11-0 11-6 11-4 victory over De Lierre takes him into a quarter-final against compatriot Raj Nanda, the top seed who beat Mexican qualifier Mariano Aguilar 9-11 11-5 11-5 11-4.
