Mamut Spells May Madness At The Crucible

15 May 2005

The promoters of this summer's Mamut English Open admit a hint of "May madness" in the price of tickets for the squash extravaganza at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

Tickets are now available for the opening event of next season's men's international squash circuit, which will be held at the traditional home of the World Snooker Championships from 17-21 August 2005.

Eventis Sports Marketing, headed by world number one Peter Nicol, are offering a significant discount to those who book early for the Mamut English Open, hosted by Sheffield City Council. All tickets bought before May 31st will have a discount of £5.00 on the full face value!

Following the exit of the 2005 World Snooker Championships, preparations for the third year of the English Open at the Crucible are already underway. With Mamut Business Software back on board as title sponsor, Eventis are keen to build on the success of previous years that has seen the trophy picked up by Scotland's John White and Yorkshireman Lee Beachill - both of whom reached world number one shortly after their Crucible triumphs.

"We wanted to reward squash fans who book early and show a commitment to attend our event, and decided that this would work well after the success of the golden tickets promotion we used in the first year," explained Eventis director Peter Nicol.

The management of the Crucible were delighted with last year's event: "After the success of the last two years' events, we are delighted to welcome the Mamut English Open Squash Championships back to Sheffield," said Chief executive Angela Galvin. "The tournament is a demonstration of the Crucible's ability to stage great drama, whatever the event, and we are sure that it will be another resounding success."

Tickets are now are available from The Crucible box office on 0114-249 6000 and online at www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk/buyit
