Alexander Storms to Second Tour Title In A Week

28 Nov 2011

Australian Zac Alexander collected his second PSA World Tour title in a week when he dismissed Italian Amr Ramsy Swelim in the final of the Prairie Autohaus Saskatoon Boast Open in Canada, the PSA Challenger 10 squash event in its tenth year at the YMCA in Saskatoon.

The two players met in last week's quarter-finals of the RhodySquash RI Open en-route to the Brisbane-born 22-year-old's title success in Rhode Island, USA.

Unseeded Swelim, who reached the final after upsetting second seed Gonzalo Miranda in the quarter-finals, made many more mistakes in this match than in any earlier match. While he made good shot-making decisions when Alexander afforded him any opportunities, the Cairo-based 27-year-old failed to execute his shots time and again.

Swelim's frequent tins gave Alexander, who made far fewer mistakes, the first two games. Alexander seemed to take a break in the third, while Swelim, at least temporarily, found his game.

The crucial start of the fourth game saw steady pressure from Alexander, while Swelim again struggled to find his form. The top-seeded Australian remained strong, with very few unforced errors, and finished off the match 11-5, 11-6, 5-11, 11-8 with relative ease.

The win marks the 11th PSA Tour title of Alexander's career - and his fourth of the year.
