Boswell Bounds Back With South Island Double

Australian Stewart Boswell made it two wins from two at the South Island Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The former world number four, a qualifier, is safely through to the quarterfinals of the PSA Tour event after battling to an 11-4 11-8 11-5 second round win over New Zealand's eighth seed Martin Knight. It is Boswell's first tournament on the PSA World Tour in 18 months, after being sidelined with a crippling back injury.

Earlier, the 26-year-old from Canberra had beaten Malaysia's tenth seed Nafzahizam Adnan 11-3 11-2 11-2.

Top seed Kashif Shuja is also through to the last eight. The kiwi number one edged to an 11-8 11-9 11-10 victory over Australia's Bradley Freeme, taking the third game tie-break 2-0. And second seed Wai Hang Wong from Hong Kong joined them in the quarters, with a straight games win over Malaysia's Kim Lee Wong.

In the women's WISPA World Tour event, Australian top seed Dianne Desira made short work of New Zealand's Kylie Lindsay first up, strolling to a 9-2 9-2 9-4 victory. But second seed Christina Mak from Hong Kong had to bounce back from a slow start to beat Australia's Rachel Smith 0-9 9-1 9-4 9-5.
