Zoe & Zac Survive Australia Day Challenges

There were surprise local title wins for Zac Alexander and Zoe Petrovansky in the Australia Day Challenge squash events at the Daisy Hill Squash Centre in Brisbane, Australia.

Second seed Zac Alexander carved out an 11-8, 6-11, 12-10, 11-1 upset over top-seeded compatriot Mike Corren in the final of the $3,000 PSA World Tour Satellite event.

Alexander, the Australian national champion, was celebrating the fourth Tour title triumph of his career.

Zoe Petrovansky made her breakthrough in the semi-finals of the $4,000 WISPA World Tour event with a four-game dismissal of favourite Melody Francis.

The 19-year-old Queenslander went on to defeat fourth seed Sarah Cardwell 11-3, 11-13, 11-7, 11-13, 11-7 in the final to pick up her first WISPA title in her maiden appearance in a Tour final.
