Finn Mustonen Marks Maiden Tour Title At Austrian Open

24 Oct 2009

Truly deserving of the title 'Flying Finn', qualifier Henrik Mustonen raced through the field of the Austrian Open in Vienna to win his maiden PSA Tour title at the $6,000 Super Satellite event at the Manhatten Squash Club.

The 18-year-old from Hollola, near Lahti in Finland, pulled off a succession of upsets after surviving two rounds of qualifying - his most notable scalp being third-seeded Dutchman Dylan Bennett in the quarter-finals.

His opponent in today's final was Alan Clyne, the fifth seed from Scotland who made his breakthrough after despatching second-seeded Welshman Rob Sutherland in the quarter-finals.

But there was no stopping Mustonen - the youngest player in the event - in the final as the teenager defeated Clyne 12-10, 11-5, 11-9 in 44 minutes.

The match marked Mustonen's second appearance in a Tour final, but his first title triumph.

Final:
