Top Seeds Unbeaten In Early World Team Qualifying Clashes

4 Aug 2009

All eight top seeds have recorded two wins out of two over the first two days of qualifying action in the Women's World Junior Team Squash Championships at the Indian Squash Academy in Chennai.

Hosts India, seeded to reach the final for the first time in the event's 24-year history, secured 3/0 victories over both Germany and France, the 13th and 10th seeds, respectively - and will now face former champions England, the No7 seeds, to decide the winners of Pool B.

Defending champions Egypt, firm favourites to retain the title, eased to 3/0 wins over 9th seeds Australia and 16th seeds Sweden - and will now face New Zealand, the eighth seeds, in the Pool A decider.

Nour El Sherbini, the 13-year-old Egyptian who became the sport's youngest ever world champion after unexpectedly winning the women's world junior crown at the weekend, maintained her winning ways with a 14-12, 11-6, 11-2 win over Sweden's Jennie Lindstrom.
