Mueller Celebrates Maiden Tour Title In Moscow

15 Dec 2008

After an impressive run as a junior, Swiss squash star Nicolas Mueller celebrated his first PSA Tour title as a senior when he won the inaugural Russian Opportunities Fund Championship - beating Englishman Adrian Waller in the final of the Satellite event at the Multisport Club in the Russian capital Moscow.

The 19-year-old top seed from Hirzel, near Zurich, reached the climax without dropping a game. By contrast, unseeded Waller removed three seeds in succession to take his place in the final - in the semi-finals battling for 80 minutes to overcome second-seeded Dutchman Piedro Schweertman 8-11, 11-9, 12-10, 9-11, 12-10.

After meeting countless times on the European Junior Circuit, it was Mueller and Waller's first Tour clash - but, no doubt still feeling the effects of his semi-final marathon, 18-year-old Waller from Enfield was unable to score his first win over his Swiss rival as Mueller strode to an 11-2, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8 victory, and his first Tour triumph.

Final:
