Krajcsak Crowned Saskatoon Champion

3 Nov 2008

Hungarian Mark Krajcsak crowned a successful week in Canada when he upset favourite Aaron Frankcomb in the final of Saskatoon Boast Open to lift the $10,000 PSA Tour squash title at the YMCA of Saskatoon in Saskatoon.

The 24-year-old second seed from Budapest was in sparkling form in his maiden appearance in the event in its seventh successive year in the province of Saskatchewan - and reached the final after only dropping one game.

While Krajcsak had a reasonably comfortable semi-final win over seventh seed Nafzahizam Adnan, from Malaysia, in 34 minutes, Frankcomb was taken the full distance by third seed Shawn Delierre in the other semi before prevailing over the local hero in 94 minutes.

"Hitting six tins in the first game (of the final) indicated that Frankcomb wasn't himself," commented event spokesman Brad Birnie. "Krajcsak had tight length, cut everything off quickly and owned the T for the first two games. A few early mistakes by Krajcsak and some steadier play by Frankcomb made the 25-minute third game tight until Krajcsak hit a behind-the-back winner off an intentionally-centred front-court drive from Frankcomb's backhand."

The 11-2, 11-6, 11-7 title victory in 53 minutes takes Krajcsak's career Tour title tally to five -four of which have been this year!

Final:
[2] Mark Krajcsak (HUN) bt [1] Aaron Frankcomb (AUS) 11-2, 11-6, 11-7 (53m)
