English Excel In Saudi International Qualifiers

English players excelled in today's qualifying finals of the Saudi International at Millfield School in Street, England, as Alister Walker, Joey Barrington, Daryl Selby and Jonathan Kemp secured places in the main draw of the richest ever PSA Tour squash event which will take place Saudi Arabia in December.

The English quartet will be joined by Egyptians Omar Abdel Aziz and Amr Swelim, Italian Davide Bianchetti, and Pakistani Aamir Atlas Khan as qualifiers in the $250,000 PSA Super Series Platinum event in Al-Khobar.

Daryl Selby produced the only English upset. The 25-year-old world No36 from Essex beat experienced Frenchman Renan Lavigne, ranked eight places higher, 11-8, 11-2, 11-2.

Egyptian Omar Abdel Aziz claimed the biggest scalp. The 25-year-old from Cairo defeated compatriot Hisham Mohd Ashour, ranked 25 in the world, 11-7, 2-11, 12-10, 11-2.

But the lowest-ranked player to earn a place in the biggest event of the year is Amr Swelim. The world No42 from Cairo recovered from a game down to beat Pakistan's Farhan Mehboob, ranked 13 places higher, 4-11, 11-8, 11-8, 14-12.
