Squash World Mourns Neil Desai

11 Sep 2008

The world of squash is mourning the loss of Englishman Neil Desai, a talented young player and former Surrey county junior champion who died suddenly while on holiday, only days short of his 22nd birthday.

A member of the Professional Squash Association only since December last year, Desai was actively involved in the sport while studying at Nottingham University.

"I can't describe how sad it makes me feel to hear this tragic news," said PSA Board member Lee Beachill, the former world number one from Yorkshire. "I never had the pleasure of meeting Neil but it is obvious from the comments of his friends and colleagues that the world of squash has lost a very likeable and talented young man who will be missed by many.

"We extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends. We are all thinking of them at this very difficult time."
