Stoehr Celebrates Sannois Success

23 Jun 2008

Isabelle Stoehr celebrated 'home soil' success in the Women's Sannois International in France - but the top-seeded French champion had to fight back from a game down to defeat England's third seed Lauren Briggs in the final of the inaugural $20,000 WISPA World Tour squash event at OS Sannois in Sannois.

Stoehr, the world No15 from Montpellier, took 67 minutes to record the 6-9, 9-7, 10-8, 9-3 victory which gives the 29-year-old the second Tour title in her home country this year - and the 15th of her career.

The success marks the continuation of a fine run this year by the former world No12 who won her record-equalling 11th National title in February, then went on to reach four Tour finals, including victories in the Des Pyramides Open and in Sannois.

But Stoehr's most notable achievement was reaching the semi-finals of the British Open in May as a qualifier - which included her first ever defeat of Natalie Grinham, the world No2.

Final:
[1] Isabelle Stoehr (FRA) bt [3] Lauren Briggs (ENG) 6-9, 9-7, 10-8, 9-3 (67m)
