Seoul Success Takes Nicol David To Top Of WISPA Title List

13 Jun 2008

Prince squash star Nicol David became the current player on the WISPA World Tour with the most titles when she won the Women's Seoul Open in the South Korea capital in convincing style.

The world No1 from Malaysia triumphed 9-5, 10-9, 9-6 over her great rival Rachael Grinham, the world No3, in 41 minutes to win the $60,000 WISPA Gold event in its second year in Seoul.

The success brings her Tour title total to 28 - now ahead of Grinham and equalling the achievement of the now-retired former world champion Cassie Jackman, also a Prince player!

David fought back from behind in all three games to beat Grinham, the reigning world champion.

"I was really excited to come back to Seoul," said David after her success. "There is such a great welcome from everybody."

The Seoul title takes David to her 26th successive Tour match win since last October - and extends the 24-year-old from Penang's unbeaten record this year.

It also marks her second win in a row since switching to the Prince O3 Speedport Black racquet - the latest development in the brand's O3 racquet technology.

It was less than two weeks after signing to Prince in October 2005 that Nicol David won her first title with O3 technology - her maiden British Open crown! Since then she has established a remarkable record, reaching the finals in 25 of the 27 WISPA World Tour events in which she has competed. The 2008 Seoul Open is David's 21st title since joining Prince!
