Krajcsak Captures Roma Est Crown

13 Apr 2008

After becoming the only seed to survive the first round of the Roma Est Open, Hungarian Mark Krajcsak pushed on through the inaugural $10,000 PSA Tour squash event at the Shopping Centre Roma Est in Italy's capital city Rome to lift the title in impressive style.

The 24-year-old third seed from Budapest dropped his first game of the tournament in the semi-finals as he battled to a four game victory over unseeded Swede Badr Abdel Aziz.

In the final, Krajcsak faced Dutchman Tom Hoevenaars, also unseeded. The 20-year-old from Utrecht had claimed his maiden appearance in a Tour final after ending the brave run of English qualifier Joe Lee in a 70-minute semi-final encounter.

But the Hungarian, who broke into the world's top 50 for the first time in February after winning the Austrian Open title the previous month, was too strong for his younger opponent.

After conceding only five points to Hoevenaars in the first two games, Krajcsak dropped the third - but stormed back to secure an 11-4, 11-1, 9-11, 11-6 win in 50 minutes to claim the third PSA Tour title of his career.

Final:
[3] Mark Krajcsak (HUN) bt Tom Hoevenaars (NED) 11-4, 11-1, 9-11, 11-6 (50m)
