Hamza Celebrates Tour Title Breakthrough At Rochester

New York-based Egyptian Ahmed Maged Hamza celebrated his maiden PSA Tour squash title success when he upset top seed Patrick Chifunda in the final of the Rochester Pro Open at the University of Rochester in Rochester in the US state of New York.

The 31-year-old fifth seed from Alexandria reached the final of the PSA Satellite event after upsetting second-seeded Canadian Andrew McDougall in the semis.

In the other semi-final, Chifunda was taken to four games by qualifier Lekgotla Mosope, a 24-year-old from Gabarone in Botswana who was making his PSA Tour debut.

In the final, the favourite from Zambia twice led before Hamza took the upper hand in the decider to record a 6-11, 11-8, 5-11, 11-5, 11-9 victory.
