Kasey Cruises To Best Ever Tour Title Success In Montreal

6 Apr 2008

Australian Kasey Brown claimed the biggest Tour title of her career when she beat France's Isabelle Stoehr in the final of the Women's Atwater Cup in Montreal, Canada.

The 22-year-old third seed from New South Wales made her breakthrough in the semi-finals of the inaugural WISPA World Tour Silver squash event at Club Atwater when she outplayed favourite Vanessa Atkinson - avenging her defeat by the former world champion from The Hague in last year's World Open in Madrid where she earned only five points.

Brown was again after revenge against fourth seed Stoehr - having lost to the record 11 times French national champion in their two previous meetings in 2007.

Stoehr, the world No22 from Montpellier, took the opening game. But Brown, ranked seven places higher, romped back to record an impressive 2-9, 9-6, 9-4, 9-0 victory in the climax of the $26,700 event.

The success marks Brown's first WISPA title of the year - but the eighth of her career since her maiden title triumph in the WA Open on home soil in May 2005.

Final:
[3] Kasey Brown (AUS) bt [4] Isabelle Stoehr (FRA) 2-9, 9-6, 9-4, 9-0
