Mak Makes Tour Title Debut In Pakistan

Competing in her 81st WISPA World Tour event since joining the Women's International Squash Players' Association more than 11 years ago, Christina Mak finally took her place on the winner's podium of an international event when she won the Women's Warid Pakistan Open title in Islamabad.

The top seed from Hong Kong reached the final of this inaugural Tour event in Pakistan without dropping a game.

But it took the 29-year-old 56 minutes to overcome Australia's No2 seed Donna Urquhart, 20, from Queensland, 9-2, 9-3, 7-9, 9-7 to celebrate her historic Tour breakthrough.

Dr Shamshad Akhtar, Governor State Bank of Pakistan, was the Chief Guest at the final Ceremony. Also present at the occasion, to award trophies to the winner and runner up, were Mr Umar Haider, GM Govt. Relations from WARID Telecom, and AVM Asim Suleiman, Senior Vice President of the Pakistan Squash Federation.
