Canadians Wiped Out In Ottawa

All three Canadians were defeated in the quarter-finals of the Women's Ottawa International at the Goodlife Fitness Club in Ottawa, Canada.

Fourth seed Runa Reta of Ottawa lost 3-9 9-2 9-1 9-4 to Heidi Mather, the fifth seed from Australia, in the only upset of the day.

Toronto's Melanie Jans Burke was unable to maintain the momentum which took her to the title in last week's Calgary Open as she fell to second seed Stephanie Brind, of England, 9-4 9-3 9-4.

In the top half of the draw, unseeded Katie Patrick of Toronto was beaten by Australia's third seed Melissa Martin 9-6 9-1 9-2.

The prospect of an all-English final in Ottawa was kept alive when top seed top seed Rebecca Macree defeated Aisling Blake of Ireland 9-5 9-3 9-5.
