Salazar Twins Win Through Quito Qualifiers

Teenage Mexican twins Cesar Salazar and Arturo Salazar claimed places in the main draw of the Quito Open after convincing wins in the qualifying finals of the $15,000 PSA Tour squash event at Quito Tenis Y Golf Club in the capital city of Ecuador.

Arturo Salazar despatched fellow Mexican Salvador Martinez 11-2, 11-3, 11-4 in just 20 minutes, while Cesar Salazar recovered from a game down to overcome Argentina's Gonzalo Tapiz 7-11, 11-5, 11-7, 11-4.

Welshman Jethro Binns boosted European interest in the event when he beat Mexico's Arturo Castillo 11-4, 11-5, 11-4 to claim a place in the main draw. He will now face another Mexican, second seed Eric Galvez. Winner of the title in 2005, Galvez is expected to face Egypt's top seed Omar Mosaad in the final.
