Hill Powers Into Carcassonne Semis

England's sixth seed Laura Hill powered past third-seeded compatriot Sarah Kippax to claim an unexpected place in the semi-finals of the Women's Carcassonne City Open in Carcassonne, France.

The 30-year-old fire-fighter from Duffield won the quarter-final match 9-3, 9-5, 9-3 and will now meet Louise Crome for a place in the final.

Crome, the No2 seed from New Zealand, ended local interest in the event by beating eighth seed Celia Allamargot 9-4, 9-0, 9-3.
