Perrin Punishes Gordon In Tenerife

Frenchman Yann Perrin became the only qualifier to reach the quarter-finals of the Prince Canary Islands Open when he upset No7 seed Christopher Gordon in the first round of the PSA Tour event in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain.

The 21-year-old from Marseille followed his good form earlier this month in Norway, where he reached the semi-finals of the Grays Oslo Open, by beating top USA player Gordon 11-8, 4-11, 11-8, 11-9.

Perrin now faces Scott Handley, the fourth seed from England who defeated local wild card player Pedro Espeleta 11-6, 11-10 (3-1), 11-6.

Top seed Joseph Kneipp, the former world No10 playing his first PSA Tour event since October, sailed into the last eight after beating Hungary's Andras Torok 11-5, 11-5, 11-1.
