Patrick Punished As Mami Makes Goshen Semis

14 Oct 2006

The strong and talented Katie Patrick was not quick enough to stay with a very fit and tenacious Mami Nishio in the quarter-finals of the Women's Subway Goshen Open in Indiana, USA.

Nishio, the fifth seed from Japan, romped to a 9-2, 9-3, 9-7 win over the third-seeded Canadian in just 27 minutes - and will now face another Canadian for a place in the WISPA World Tour event's final.

Alana Miller, the top seed from Winnipeg, needed 42 minutes to get the better of eighth seed Jenny Wright, of Wales, in a 9-6, 9-7, 9-4 scoreline.

The other semi-final will be an Irish/Indian affair. Aisling Blake, the second seed from Sligo, defeated Japan's Chinatsu Matsui 9-0, 9-1, 9-10, 9-6, while Chennai-based Joshna Chinappa, the third seed, beat Canadian Tara Mullins 9-1, 9-3, 9-10, 9-3.
