Khan Coasts Into Saudi Qualifying Finals

Pakistan's Aamir Atlas Khan secured a notable scalp in the Saudi International qualifying competition in England when he beat France's world No33 Renan Lavigne 11-3, 11-7, 11-9 in the first round at St George's Hill in Surrey.

The 16-year-old from Peshawar will now face the only other Frenchman in the qualifiers for a place in the main draw of the PSA Super Series Platinum event which will take place in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia, in December. Jean-Michel Arcucci, from Marseille, beat England's Lee Drew 5-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-6.

Former England internationals Simon Parke and Mark Chaloner will renew their rivalry in the qualifying finals. Yorkshireman Parke, who reached No3 in the world in 2000, defeated Pakistan's Yasir Butt 11-6, 11-6, 11-9 in the first round, while Chaloner, a former world No7 from Lincolnshire, beat Australian Aaron Frankcomb 11-3, 8-11, 11-8, 11-7.
