Jans Jubilant At Jericho

Second seed Melanie Jans celebrated a notable home success in Vancouver when she upset favourite and compatriot Alana Miller in the final of the Women's Sun & Surf Jericho Open at the Jericho Tennis Club in the Canadian city.

Vancouver-based Jans was strong from start to finish all week - and closed out the final 9-3, 10-9, 6-9, 9-0 to repeat her success over Miller in the 2005 Canadian Nationals final.

The triumph marks the Montreal-born 33-year-old's sixth WISPA World Tour title success since 1994 - all but the first of which have been won on home soil.
