Tarek Topples Top Seed To Reach Companion Final In Sao Paulo

26 Apr 2006

Egyptian teenager Tarek Momen recorded his best victory on the PSA Tour since joining the professional circuit only last year when he upset top-seeded Frenchman Jean-Michel Arcucci in straight games in the semi-finals of the Companion Challenge Cup in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The 11-4, 11-7, 11-6 win takes the 18-year-old from Cairo into his second PSA final in four weeks after reaching the climax of the Thessaloniki Open in Greece in March.

Momen will take on local hero Rafael F Alarcon, Brazil's six-times national champion who beat Sao Paulo-based Canadian Sabir Butt 11-7, 11-4, 11-6 in the other semi-final.

Alarcon, the 28-year-old second seed who also hails from Sao Paulo, is one victory away from his second successive PSA title victory after winning the Verao Open in Santos, Brazil, last month.
