Corren Snaps Up Saskatchewan Silverware
29 Mar 2006
Australia's Mike Corren kicked off his 2006 PSA Tour campaign in fine style by winning the Saskatchewan Open in Canada.
The 32-year-old top seed from Adelaide, who is now based in Salt Lake City, reached his 17th PSA final without dropping a game.
His opponent Ahmed Maged Hamza was celebrating his first appearance in a PSA Tour final, which he reached without meeting another seeded player.
But Corren was too strong for the 29-year-old second seed from Alexandria in Egypt, winning 11-6, 11-9, 11-7 in 41 minutes.
The victory marks Corren's 11th PSA title triumph - but his first of the year after failing to progress beyond the first round in all but two of the events he competed in last year.
Final:
[1] Mike Corren (AUS) bt [2] Ahmed Maged Hamza (EGY) 11-6, 11-9, 11-7 (41m)
