Atkinson Cruises To Mexican Open Title

Dutch star Vanessa Atkinson cruised to her third successive WISPA World Tour title when she beat compatriot Annelize Naude in the final of the Women's Sports World Mexican Open in Mexico City.

Top seed Atkinson, the world No3 from The Hague, reached the final without dropping a game, then crushed surprise opponent Naude, the seventh seed, 9-4 9-1 9-2 to lift her fourth WISPA title of the year - and the 11th of her career.

With 12 consecutive match wins to her credit, 28-year-old Atkinson now travels to Bahrain to compete in the inaugural Women's Bahrain WISPA Classic. The $47,000 WISPA Gold event gets underway on 11th September, when third seed Atkinson takes on Egypt's Engy Kheirallah.
