Biography
In an illustrious professional career from 1992 to 2006, Peter Nicol appeared in 69 PSA World Tour finals, winning 49 titles – including 4 US Opens; 3 Mahindra Internationals (in India); 3 Al-Ahram Internationals (in Egypt); 2 British Opens; 3 successive World Series Finals; 3 Hong Kong Opens; 2 Qatar Classics; 3 Tournament of Champions; and the World Open in 1999. In addition, he is a four-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist – winning the men’s singles title in 1998 and 2006, and the men’s doubles (with Lee Beachill) in 2002 and 2006. He earned 67 caps for Scotland (only recording 1 loss) and, after transferring his allegiance to England in March 2001, went on to win a further 46 caps for his new country. He was awarded the MBE in June 1999
