Canadian qualifying success in the Goodlife Open has led to domestic interest in all but one of the first round matches in the 1-star PSA Tour squash event at the Goodlife Fitness Club in Ottawa, Canada.
Calgary's Andrew McDougall enjoyed a comfortable 11-6, 11-6, 11-4 win over fellow Canadian Matthew Serediak, while Dave Glass, from Winnipeg, survived a fast-paced match against Brazilian Fabio Cechin, winning 9-11, 11-0, 11-7, 11-10 (4-2).
The match of the day was between Ontario's Dan Sibley and England's James Snell. The higher-ranked Englishman took a 2/1 lead, then squandered two match-balls before Sibley fought back to claim an impressive 11-10 (3-1), 9-11, 8-11, 11-10 (2-0), 11-6 win in 77 minutes.
